Review: LITTLE WOMEN: THE BROADWAY MUSICAL & OUR DEAR DEAD DRUG LORD At MOXIE Theatre
Moxie Theatre presents two radically different repertory shows with compelling performances reflecting girlhood's myriad experiences, “Little Women: The Broadway Musical” and the dark thriller “Our Dear Dead Drug Lord.” Both are running with the same core cast through December 8th.

CLYDE'S at MOXIE Theatre
Welcome to CLYDE’S, where the art of making a sandwich can lead to enlightenment. Staffed by formerly incarcerated people trying to rebuild their lives, but run by someone who has no real internet in food, or their employees beyond making the sale, this play has something to say about the work to build a better life, self-respect, and of course, the perfect sandwich.
THE CHRONICLES OF KALKI at MOXIE Theatre
THE CHRONICLES OF KALKI making its San Diego premiere through June 4th at MOXIE Theatre is a comic book-inspired tale of two friends who are figuring out who they are, navigating school, and possibly may have manifested the return of a god set on returning the cosmic order of good and evil through any means necessary. At least they paid attention in religious studies class, right?

Favorite theatre experiecnces 2022
Here is a list of some of my favorite theatre experiences in San Diego in 2022! This is by no means a complete list of everything that was excellent in this past year, but now we get to turn towards 2023 and all of the fantastic theatre that is sure to come our way.
THE CHILDREN
THE CHILDREN, a play by Lucy Kirkwood now playing at MOXIE Theatre through December 4th is a funny, and thought-provoking play brought to life through strong direction and excellent performances. Set in a world after a disastrous event, it asks how much are we willing to mortgage the future to avoid paying the price of our actions today.
THE PLEASURE TRIALS
THE PLEASURE TRIALS by Sarah Saltwick is now playing a MOXIE Theatre through September 11th and ponders “What does a woman really want?” is playing through September 11th
MOTHER OF THE MAID
MOTHER OF THE MAID, now playing at MOXIE Theatre offers powerful performances on parenting, faith, and how to help your child live their life on their terms. Even if those terms challenge your ability to keep them safe, and could potentially be deadly. MOTHER OF THE MAID is playing through May 22nd.
SAPIENCE
t the insights that occur when your way of communicating and experiencing the world expands. Written by Diana Burbano the play features characters on the autism spectrum, people navigating different languages, and even magical realism as a playful orangutan named Wookie.
THE MANGO TREE
THE MANGO TREE, streaming from MOXIE Theatre, and a part of the SAY IT LOUD Juneteenth Festival from the San Diego Black Artists Collective is an excellent one-woman show about a river goddess, family, and just how much trouble one mango can get you. The show is available for streaming on June 15th, 18th, and 19th.
I AND YOU and Walt Whitman too
Review of I AND YOU at MOXIE Theatre, streaming through March 28th. It's not every day that a stranger introduces themselves by barging into your room while quoting poetry, but it is how Anthony introduces himself to Caroline in MOXIE's I AND YOU. Despite this meet-cute moment, he comes bearing homework; a last-minute homework project that they've been assigned on a Walt Whitman poem. The play written by Lauren Gunderson follows their conversation and friendship as both deepen over the course of the assignment as they contemplate life, love, longing, and loneliness...you know, typical teenage discussions.
